Kidd Blue was recently honored with the job of entertaining guests at the nuptials of Mr. & Mrs. Brandon Mims. It was a gorgeous evening with perfect weather for an outdoor wedding. The wedding ceremony took place on front of the historic old fireplace at Oak Bowery Reserve just north of Opelika, Alabama. The band performed under the shade trees of the back yard and entertained guests both young and old with their eclectic mix of jazz, soul, R&B and 80s music.
The band's set-up for the evening was clean and visually appealing, allowing the bride's design to shine throughout the evening.
On a historical note, Oak Bowery Reserve is owned and operated by one of Kidd Blue's former bass players, Logan Patton. Logan has since gone on to become one of the southeast's most in-demand sound engineers, managing front-of-house sound for international jazz, pop and soul artists including Chaka Khan. Additionally, the band recorded some secretive original music in the barn at Oak Bowery, which used to be a recording studio. The audition tape for the 1987 MTV Rock n' Roll Challenge - which the band took 2nd place in - was also recorded on the property.
